Coinciding with the blessed birth anniversary of Amir al-Muminin (peace be upon him), the Imam Ali Holy Shrine organized the inauguration ceremony of the Grand Golden Iwan after the successful completion of its renovation and decorative enhancement. Owing to its profound religious and spiritual significance, the event is regarded as a historic milestone.
In a statement to the Shrine’s News Center, Haider Al-Isawi, Member of the Board of Directors of the Imam Ali Holy Shrine, said:
“The shrine’s teams, through dedicated effort, sincerity, and a high level of professional commitment, succeeded in completing the renovation of the Grand Golden Iwan in accordance with the latest technical and engineering standards. This was achieved while preserving the beauty and grandeur of this magnificent structure and without compromising the architectural identity of the holy shrine, thereby earning wide admiration from visitors.”
A Spiritual Landmark
Shaikh Karrar Al-Khafaji, Head of the Department of Religious Affairs at the Imam Ali Holy Shrine, extended his congratulations to Muslims and believers around the world on the auspicious birth anniversary of Amir al-Muminin (peace be upon him). He emphasized:
“The Imam Ali Holy Shrine is organizing a variety of programs to mark this blessed occasion. Among them is the unveiling of the renovated and gilded Golden Iwan, around which pilgrims circumambulate, experiencing a unique and deeply spiritual atmosphere.”
He concluded by praying that God grant success to all those serving the Holy Shrine of Amir al-Muminin and its visitors.
A Distinguished Event
Wissam Iskandar, Head of the Planning and Development Center of the Shrine, stated:
“The inauguration of the Grand Golden Iwan represents one of the most significant and rare historical events of the Imam Ali Holy Shrine. The ceremony was held in the presence of a large gathering of officials and members of the public, with more than 1,500 pilgrims and guests attending the unveiling. This achievement comes after years of continuous effort and multiple phases of work, all completed entirely at the Shrine’s Gold Workshop.”

Jaafar Al-Budeiri, Administrative Assistant to the Head of the Media Department of the Imam Ali Holy Shrine, remarked:
“The unveiling of the Grand Golden Iwan was an event long awaited by the lovers and devotees of this holy sanctuary, as it reflects the spiritual essence and profound soul of this sacred place.
From an architectural perspective, the Golden Iwan is a masterpiece of exceptional beauty and refinement, distinguished by its unique motifs, inscriptions in three languages, and rare decorative elements seldom found in other holy shrines, granting it a truly special status.”
