With the support of the Imam Ali Holy Shrine, al-Ghadir Park welcomed students from the Department of Architectural Engineering at the College of Engineering, University of Kufa, for a practical field workshop held within the framework of the two courses Free Design and Sculpture. The workshop was conducted with the participation of first-year students.
In a statement to the Holy Shrine’s Central News Unit, Dr. Ala Abdulhussain, Advisor to the Imam Ali Holy Shrine, said:
“This hosting reflects our commitment to supporting students and providing spaces within the city that help inspire meaningful ideas—ideas that contribute to enhancing their scientific and artistic skills and to shaping their future as architectural engineers.”
Iraqi sculptor Ahmed Al-Bahrani expressed his pleasure at being present at the site and at viewing the al-Ghadir Monument, whose implementation was supported by the Imam Ali Holy Shrine. He emphasized that the monument has become a cultural symbol and a prominent landmark for visitors and the people of Najaf al-Ashraf, given its profound religious and historical significance. He also commended the Holy Shrine’s efforts in cooperating with engineers, artists, and students from Iraqi universities.
This program forms part of a broader set of initiatives undertaken by the Imam Ali Holy Shrine to support scientific, cultural, and artistic fields and to strengthen engagement with academic institutions—an approach that contributes to developing students’ skills and harnessing the creative potential of young talents in service of the future of architecture and art in Iraq.
