Academics Commend the Imam Ali Holy Shrine for Organizing the “My Hijab” Festival

A group of academics expressed their appreciation for the Imam Ali Holy Shrine’s organization of the “My Hijab” Festival, describing the initiative as an innovative and effective step toward strengthening and promoting the culture of modesty among university students.

A number of university professors praised the initiative of the Imam Ali Holy Shrine in holding the “My Hijab” Festival within the framework of the programs of the Week of Modesty. They emphasized that the festival plays a significant role in consolidating the values of modesty and authentic identity, while fostering a sense of pride among female students who choose to wear the hijab within the university environment.

Dr. Sajad Abbas, Director of the Najaf Educational Center at the Free Educational College, stated in an interview with the Shrine’s News Center:

“This festival is held in the vicinity of Amir al-Muminin (peace be upon him) and serves his blessed path and methodology. Its aim is the preservation of society, the family, and the social system.
We extend our congratulations to the Imam Ali Holy Shrine and to all those involved in this blessed festival, who have contributed to its revival, promotion, and the institutionalization of the values of chastity and modesty among our girls and women. The hijsb represents a prominent symbol of ethics and social cohesion in building a sound society.”

Mohammad Hassan Ali, Assistant Professor at Shaikh al-Tusi University, said:

“The organization of a ceremony honoring female students committed to wearing the hijab within the university environment reflects the Imam Ali Holy Shrine’s attention to this important segment of society. This initiative encourages other students to adhere to dignified dress and affirms that the chador is not an obstacle to women’s active participation in academic institutions or in various professional fields.”

He added:

“Our participation in this festival for the third consecutive year stems from our belief in its noble objectives. The hijab is a symbol of modesty, dignity, and purity, and it presents a conscious image of women who are capable of successfully combining religious commitment with active engagement in scientific and professional arenas.”

Assistant Professor Zainab al-Bayati also remarked:

“Participation in today’s ceremony reflects an identity in which we take pride. It is an active and motivating participation for students, particularly first-year female students who were selected by the Imam Ali Holy Shrine for recognition. Through the presentation of the hijab, an identity we cherish and honor has been celebrated.”

Professor Basim al-Shimmari, representative of Al-Furat Al-Awsat University, expressed his appreciation for the extensive efforts and resources dedicated to encouraging this segment of society to embrace the blessed Zainabi hijab. He conveyed his gratitude to the organizers of these commendable programs.

It is noteworthy that the central ceremony of the “My Hijab” Festival was held in the courtyard of Lady Fatimah al-Zahra (peace be upon her), with the participation of more than two thousand veiled female university students from the universities of Najaf al-Ashraf. Plans are in place to gradually honor female students in other Iraqi provinces in subsequent stages.
