Amir al-Muminin’a Sermon on the Day of Eid al-Fitr

Amir al-Muminin (peace be upon him) delivered a sermon on the Day of Eid al-Fitr and said:

“O people, indeed this day of yours is a day on which the righteous are rewarded and the wrongdoers suffer loss. It closely resembles the Day of Resurrection.

So when you depart from your homes toward your place of prayer, remember the day when you will emerge from your graves toward your Lord.

And when you stand in your place of prayer, remember the day when you will stand before your Lord.

And when you return to your homes, remember the day when you will return to your homes in Paradise.

O servants of God, the least reward granted to fasting men and women is that on the final day of the month of Ramadan, an angel calls out to them:

‘Rejoice, O servants of God, for your past sins have been forgiven. So be mindful of how you conduct yourselves from this day forward.’”

This sermon reflects the profound spiritual vision of Amir al-Muminin (peace be upon him), linking the joy of Eid with accountability before God, and reminding believers that forgiveness is a beginning of responsibility, not an end to vigilance.
