His Eminence Sayed Isa Al-Khirsan, Custodian of the Imam Ali Holy Shrine, inaugurated the rehabilitation and redevelopment project of the “al-Muallemin District” Park in the center of the holy city of Najaf al-Ashraf. The inauguration ceremony was attended by his deputy, members of the Board of Directors, heads of departments, and the Governor of Najaf. The project was implemented within the framework of service-oriented efforts aimed at expanding public spaces and improving the environmental and service conditions of the province.
In a statement to the Shrine’s News Center, Mustafa Mahbouba, Head of the Engineering and Construction Affairs Department at the Imam Ali Holy Shrine, explained:
“The rehabilitation works covered an area exceeding 43,000 square meters, which had previously suffered from severe neglect and multiple encroachments. Specialized teams removed all encroachments and damages, re-prepared the soil suitable for cultivation, and, in addition to planting approximately 5,500 young saplings and more than 150 mature trees, fully rehabilitated the lighting system and infrastructure, including the surrounding perimeter of the project.”
He added:
“This project transformed the site from an abandoned area into an attractive park and an urban recreational space worthy of Najafi families. The Imam Ali Holy Shrine has affirmed its continued support for service projects that serve the community and contribute to improving the urban environment.”
The inauguration of the “al-Muallemin District” Park follows the opening of al-Ghadeer Park and several other service projects implemented through the efforts of the Shrine’s staff. This initiative reflects the Shrine’s ongoing commitment to executing service and environmental projects and providing urban recreational spaces that enhance the quality of life for the families of Najaf al-Ashraf.
