The Holy Alawi Shrine wrapped up the second edition of the “Alawi Service” program, aimed at training and empowering honorary servants. This initiative is part of the shrine’s early preparations to welcome Arbaeen visitors.
The program consisted of a series of specialized workshops covering crowd management, handling work pressures, providing services to pilgrims, and teaching essential Persian language basics.
Wissam Iskandar, head of the “al-Nathm” Center within the Strategic Planning and Development Unit, told the shrine’s news center:
“This program was held for the second time in coordination with the ‘Qanbar’ Center specifically for honorary servants. Its goal is to enhance the skills of the servants and increase their readiness to participate in managing million-strong pilgrimages.”
He added:
“The program ran for three days and included 21 hours of intensive training. It also featured specialized workshops on risk management during mass pilgrimages, methods of providing services to pilgrims during peak crowds, managing field teams, working under high-pressure conditions, and learning the most important Persian vocabulary needed by the servants.”
Preparing for the Arbaeen Pilgrimage
Mr. Iskandar noted that across the two rounds of the program, 160 selected volunteers from 32 different Iraqi provincial delegations took part. The program falls within the Holy Alawi Shrine’s plan to prepare its staff and honorary servants to receive mourners and pilgrims during the Arbaeen season, enabling them to properly serve the millions who attend this annual event.
It is worth mentioning that the Holy Alawi Shrine continues to run educational and developmental programs to strengthen its permanent and honorary servants, raising their efficiency in managing million-strong pilgrimages in line with the highest standards of organization and safety.
