The pavilion of Imam Ali Holy Shrine, represented by the Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs, hosted a series of academic workshops and scholarly sessions as part of its cultural program at the 26th Baghdad International Book Fair. These activities drew wide interest from visitors.
During his visit to the pavilion, the custodian of Imam Ali Holy Shrine commended the efforts of the departments of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs, Engineering, Information Technology, Media, and Public Relations, recognizing their contributions in presenting the intellectual and academic achievements of the shrine and highlighting its cultural mission on both national and international platforms.
Session on the Origins of Arabic Dialects
Karrar al-Hilo, head of the Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs, explained in an interview with Shrine’s News Center:
“The pavilion organized a cultural program that included academic discussions, interactive competitions, and specialized workshops. The most prominent was a session featuring Shaikh Farhan al-Saedi, titled ‘The Origins of Arabic Dialects.’ The session explored the historical development of Arabic dialects across the centuries, examining their cultural and social impact on various Arab societies. It also addressed methodologies for studying these dialects in order to better understand the roots of the Arabic language and its regional variations.”
Workshops
The program further included three successive workshops:
- An educational workshop on the foundations of Qur’anic Kufic calligraphy as part of an introduction to modern methods of book production.
- A practical workshop on the traditional handcrafting of natural paper.
- A technical workshop showcasing the stages of 3D printing.
It is noteworthy that Imam Ali Holy Shrine participated in the Baghdad International Book Fair with a distinguished pavilion. It consisted by multiple departments including Intellectual and Cultural Affairs, Media, Information Technology, Public Relations, and Engineering, affirming its active and multidimensional presence at the exhibition.
