Engineering and construction teams affiliated with the Shrine have begun dismantling several structures located in the former Sadeer Square, in line with a development project designed to enhance the services provided to the pilgrims of the sacred mausoleum of Amir al-Muminin (peace be upon him) within the historic urban fabric of Najaf.
Mustafa Mahbuba, Head of the Engineering and Construction Department, stated in an interview with the Shine’s News Center:
“Our specialized teams have completed the demolition of two buildings and are currently working on dismantling the third and final structure. A comprehensive service complex will be constructed on this site, including a multi-story parking facility designed to serve the surrounding areas near the sanctified Shrine.”
He further noted:
“The project will also comprise facilities such as sanitary complexes and several suitably equipped areas for hospitality and rest, ensuring improved comfort for pilgrims. The objective of this initiative is to provide an appropriately developed environment that enables the delivery of dignified and efficient services for the welfare of pilgrims in the city of Najaf.”
This undertaking forms part of a broader series of development projects implemented by the Imam Ali Holy Shrine within the old quarters of Najaf. These initiatives aim to enhance service provision, organize the flow of visitors, increase the city’s capacity to receive pilgrims, and present an image befitting the stature and sanctity of this revered city.
