One of the narrations concerning the defense of the guardianship of Amir al-Muminin (peace be upon him) is the transmission of the Hadith of al-Ghadir.
Ibn al-Jazari, the Shafi’i traditionist and jurist, in his search for the chains of transmission for the event of al-Ghadir, arrived at an exceptional document which he considers the most “exquisite” chain of al-Ghadir. It is a chain that begins with Lady Masumah (peace be upon her) and, through the daughters of the Imams, reaches Lady Fatimah al-Zahra (peace be upon her).
The late Allameh Amini cited this narration in Al-al-Ghadir (Vol. 1, p. 397) from the book Asna al-Matalib by Ibn al-Jazari al-Shafi’i:
“Fatimah, Zaynab, and Umm Kulthum, the daughters of Musa ibn Jafar (peace be upon them), said: Fatimah daughter of Jafar ibn Muhammad al-Sadiq narrated to us, she from Fatimah daughter of Muhammad ibn Ali, she from Fatimah daughter of Ali ibn al-Hussain, she from Fatimah and Sakinah, the daughters of Hussain ibn Ali, from Umm Kulthum daughter of Fatimah daughter of the Prophet, from Fatimah daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon them), who said:
‘Have you forgotten the words of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) on the day of al-Ghadir Khumm: “Whomever I am his master, Ali is his master,” and his saying: “You are to me as Aaron was to Moses” (peace be upon them both)?’”
Lady Fatimah Masumah (peace be upon her) is one of the narrators of the “Fatimiyyat” traditions. In these narrations, emanating from Lady Fatimah al-Zahra (peace be upon her), the names of all the narrators are “Fatimah,” and they are all descendants of the Imams (peace be upon them). [2]
