Through its Follow-up and Maintenance Department, as part of its preparations to welcome Arbaeen pilgrims, the Holy Alawi Shrine has begun the work of preparing and activating close to 500 mist fans installed across various parts of the Holy Shrine and its surroundings. The aim is to create a more comfortable environment for pilgrims and reduce the effects of the heat during the Arbaeen season.
Preparing the Mist System
Ridha Hussain, head of the Fragrance and Mist Fans Unit, told the Shrine’s News Center:
“Our staff have completed the repair, preparation, and activation of the mist fan system located at the Holy Shrine, the outer courtyards, and the streets leading to it — all to welcome Arbaeen pilgrims in the best way possible.”
He added:
“These mist fans play a big role in cooling the area during summer. The water used in the system is chilled through an integrated cooling system and a chiller unit, which lowers the temperature of the air coming out of the fans and creates a more pleasant environment for pilgrims.”

He also pointed out where the equipment is placed:
“The mist fans have been installed in the Holy Haidari Courtyard, the Courtyard of the Great Messenger (peace be upon him and his family), the Courtyard of Imam al-Hasan (peace be upon him), the Courtyard of Imam al-Hussain (peace be upon him), the Courtyard of Lady Fatimah (peace be upon her), as well as al-Jawahiri Street, Hammami Street, and Imam al-Zayn al-Abidin (peace be upon him) Street, and also under the shade structures of the escalators in the peripheral areas of the Shrine — covering the most important routes used by pilgrims.”
These measures are part of the comprehensive service plan of the Holy Alawi Shrine’s administration to provide the best services to pilgrims and ensure suitable conditions for the Arbaeen observances.
