The Service Affairs Department of the Holy Alawi Shrine, as part of its early preparations to receive millions of pilgrims for the Arbaeen ceremony, is continuing to implement its comprehensive service plan.
The plan covers a wide range of essential services and infrastructure upgrades to ensure pilgrims’ comfort and smooth movement throughout the event.
Mahdi Salih Mahdi, Deputy Head of the Service Affairs Department, told the Shrine’s News Centre:
“Our teams have started setting up over five dedicated luggage depositories to hold pilgrims’ bags and belongings, each with a capacity of more than two thousand items. This will make a real difference in helping pilgrims move around freely while keeping their possessions safe.”
He added:
“The department has finished installing and equipping eight large accommodation tents for pilgrims — four on the Street of Imam al-Hojjah (may Allah hasten his reappearance) and four in the Imam al-Ridha (peace be upon him) Pilgrims’ City. Each tent covers over a thousand square meters, and they’ve all been fitted with carpets and air coolers to receive pilgrims.”
He also noted that the service plan includes setting up more than 14 stations dispensing cold drinking water around the Holy Shrine and the Imam al-Rida (peace be upon him) Pilgrims’ City.
Over 500 air coolers have also been installed around the Holy Shrine and the Courtyard of Lady Fatimah (peace be upon her), and all three floors of the shrine have been carpeted.
Mahdi went on:
“The department has deployed more than seven mobile toilet units along the route from Kufa Street to the area around the Holy Shrine. On top of that, the fixed restrooms around the shrine, the Imam al-Rida Pilgrims’ City, and the service centers at Pillars 96 and 234 have been refurbished and prepped, so they’re all ready to serve pilgrims.”
He made it clear:
“Some of these measures started over a month ago — especially the construction and equipping of the accommodation tents with carpets and coolers. The rest of the plans will be rolled out gradually as the month of Safar begins, including boosting our workforce with volunteer servants to help out during the Arbaeen period.”
It’s worth keeping in mind that all these efforts are part of the Holy Alawi Shrine’s comprehensive service plan, aimed at providing the best possible services to pilgrims and creating the right conditions for the Arbaeen ceremony to be held in the most magnificent way.
