Wisam al-Haddad, a member of the Board of Directors of the Holy Alawi Shrine, gained insight into the preparations and operational plans of the ice factory affiliated with the Holy Alawi Shrine during a field visit to the facility.
This visit coincided with the announcement of an increase in the factory’s production capacity in order to meet the needs of the shrine’s affiliated service centers and Mawakib, as well as to support the Mawakib stationed along the route leading to holy Karbala.
Dhirgham Mohammed, a member of the staff of the Holy Alawi Shrine’s ice factory, stated:
“This factory currently operates two production shifts per day, with 310 blocks of ice produced in each shift; the total daily production therefore reaches 620 blocks of ice, which are distributed among the service centers and al-Hussaini Mawakib.”
He added:
“The factory has two main storage facilities for keeping the ice. The first storage facility is located inside the factory and has a storage capacity of 10,000 blocks of ice, while the second is located along the pilgrims’ route and has a capacity of approximately 7,000 blocks of ice. These two facilities play an important role in organizing the distribution process and ensuring a continuous, round-the-clock supply of ice for the Hussaini Mawakib and service centers.”
It is worth noting that the Holy Alawi Shrine has prepared a comprehensive services program to welcome the millions of pilgrims who come to holy Najaf to commemorate Arbaeen al-Hussaini and to offer condolences on this occasion, and is working to provide pilgrims with the best possible services.
