Coinciding with the commemoration of al-Hussaini Arbaeen, the Dar al-Quran of the Holy Alawi Shrine launched the fourteenth edition of its national Quran program for Arbaeen, setting up approximately 260 Quranic stations along the pilgrims’ routes across 12 Iraqi provinces. The program aims to promote a culture of correct Quranic recitation and to enhance pilgrims’ Quranic awareness and understanding.
Quranic Stations
Alaa Mohsen, head of the Dar al-Quran of the Holy Alawi Shrine, said:
“This program includes stations for teaching and correcting the recitation of Surat al-Fatihah and short Quranic chapters for pilgrims visiting the holy shrines of Amir al-Muminin (peace be upon him) and Imam al-Hussain (peace be upon him), and, as part of a comprehensive plan, accompanies pilgrims along all the routes leading to holy Karbala.”
He added:
“The Holy Alawi Shrine directly oversees 95 Quranic stations in the provinces of Basra, Dhi Qar, Wasit, Najaf al-Ashraf, and Baghdad. In addition, in cooperation with the Union of Quran Reciters and Quranic Activists of Iraq, 160 stations are being run in seven other provinces, bringing the total number of stations in this program to approximately 260 across 12 Iraqi provinces.”
He further stated:
“This program includes separate sections for men and women, with more than a thousand Quran instructors and trainers participating to provide correct instruction in the recitation of the Holy Quran to all pilgrims, across various groups.”
He added:
“Alongside recitation instruction, the program also includes activities such as Quranic competitions and quizzes, as well as sessions of companionship with the Quran held along the routes leading to holy Karbala.”
A Continuing Quranic Message Along the Arbaeen Route
The head of the Dar al-Quran of the Holy Alawi Shrine emphasized:
“This program is one of the most important Quranic initiatives of the Holy Alawi Shrine during the days of Arbaeen, aiming to spread Quranic culture, institutionalize correct recitation among millions of pilgrims, and deepen their connection with the Word of God.”
