Through the establishment of an integrated network of transportation services, the Holy Alawi Shrine has facilitated the movement of pilgrims to the sacred shrine of Amir al-Muminin (peace be upon him) and their subsequent departure toward holy Karbala — an effort aimed at ensuring smooth movement and reducing congestion along various routes.
The head of the Transportation Department at the Holy Alawi Shrine, Sabah al-Tarafi, told the Shrine’s News Center:
“The Transportation Department has launched its dedicated Arbaeen program by deploying a full fleet of vehicles, providing free transportation services to pilgrims along several main routes.”
He added:
“Under this program, pilgrims are transported free of charge from the entrances of the old quarter of the city to the sacred Alawi shrine and back. In addition, at least 9 vehicles have been allocated to support the operation of the escalators and reduce congestion around them, making it easier for pilgrims to move about.”
He also stated:
“The Holy Alawi Shrine has deployed more than 200 vehicles equipped with air conditioning systems and welfare amenities to serve pilgrims. These vehicles transport pilgrims from Pillar 660 along the Najaf–Karbala route to the southern parking area and also take part in carrying out the pilgrim return plan (an organized transfer and management scheme) — an effort that helps ensure smoother movement and raises the level of services provided to al-Hussaini Arbaeen pilgrims.”
It is worth noting that the Holy Alawi Shrine, by mobilizing all of its departments and resources, remains at the service of al-Hussaini Arbaeen pilgrims — pilgrims who choose the sacred shrine of Amir al-Muminin Ali (peace be upon him) in Najaf as one of the most important spiritual stations on their path toward holy Karbala to take part in the magnificent Arbaeen ceremonies.
