Emergency Medical Services Provided to Arbaeen Pilgrims by the Holy Alawi Shrine

The Holy Alawi Shrine has deployed 230 personnel from its Emergency Evacuation Unit to provide urgent medical services to pilgrims.

As part of its special program for the days of Arbaeen, the Emergency Evacuation Unit, affiliated with the Prophet Muhammad Medical Center of the Holy Alawi Shrine, has stationed more than 230 servants, staff, and volunteer workers in the courtyard of Lady Fatimah al-Zahra (peace be upon her) within the Holy Alawi Shrine and its surrounding areas, providing round-the-clock emergency response, urgent transfer, and medical support services to pilgrims.

Abdullah Ali, head of the Emergency Evacuation Unit, told the Shrine’s News Center:

“Field teams are responsible for handling emergency cases, including shortness of breath and suffocation caused by overcrowding, complications arising from rising temperatures, as well as the transfer of patients in need to the Prophet Muhammad Medical Center. These operations are carried out using ambulances, wheelchairs, and medical stretchers, ensuring both a swift response and the preservation of pilgrims’ health during the millions-strong Arbaeen pilgrimage.”

The program of the Prophet Muhammad Medical Center also includes the establishment of five clinics and medical stations, staffed by medical, nursing, and service personnel and equipped with the necessary medical supplies and facilities, providing health and medical services to pilgrims.

These stations are located at five points: Dar al-Shifa, the Bab Shaikh al-Tusi expansion, the courtyard of Lady Fatimah al-Zahra (peace be upon her), the Alawi Complex near the al-Hammami intersection, and the Imam al-Rida (peace be upon him) township—each equipped with separate sections designated for men and women.
