Under the supervision of the Deputy Custodian of the Shrine, and with the presence of the Assistant Director of the Custodianship and members of the Board of Directors, staff of the Transportation Department of the Holy Alawi Shrine have launched the program to transport and move pilgrims during the Arbaeen commemoration.
This plan employs a fleet of modern, air-conditioned buses to ensure safe, comfortable, and suitable transportation for Arbaeen pilgrims.
Board of Directors member Haidar al-Issawi told the Shrine’s News Center:
“The reverse transport operation for pilgrims, organized in the Haidariya area north of Najaf along the route between the cities of Najaf and Karbala toward the southern terminal, represents the penultimate stage of the program developed to serve pilgrims.”
He added:
“The pilgrim transfer site includes service Mawakib, a prayer hall, and support and logistical services, and an additional point has also been established at the southern terminal of the city of Najaf al-Ashraf to complete the reverse transport operation for pilgrims.”
Sabah al-Turfi, head of the Transportation Unit, told the News Center: “The pilgrim transport operation began in the early hours of the seventeenth of the month of Safar, with 200 buses assigned to move pilgrims from the marker 660 parking area to the southern terminal, ensuring a smooth and easy return for pilgrims departing the holy city of Karbala toward their home regions.”
He added:
“This plan also includes the assignment of 25 vehicles to transport pilgrims from the entry points of the city of Najaf al-Ashraf to the Holy Alawi Shrine—an initiative that facilitates pilgrims’ access to the shrine for their visit while also helping to reduce congestion at the city’s entry points. This program is carried out as part of the Holy Alawi Shrine’s ongoing efforts to serve the pilgrims of Amir al-Muminin (peace be upon him) and the al-Hussaini Arbaeen pilgrims of Imam al-Hussain (peace be upon him).”
It is worth noting that the Holy Alawi Shrine, by mobilizing all of its departments, provides extensive services to the al-Hussaini Arbaeen pilgrims of Imam al-Hussain (peace be upon him)—pilgrims who regard the shrine of Amir al-Muminin (peace be upon him) in Najaf al-Ashraf as the main starting point of their journey toward the holy city of Karbala to take part in the magnificent Arbaeen commemoration.
