Arabic Calligraphy Competition to Be Held by the Holy Alawi Shrine

The Holy Shrine of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) is organizing a competition in the field of Arabic calligraphy.

As part of its mission to safeguard authentic Islamic arts and revive the cultural and civilizational heritage of the Muslim nation, the Holy Shrine of Amir al-Muminin (peace be upon him) has announced the holding of a competition titled “The Virtues and Noble Qualities of Imam Ali (peace be upon him)” in the field of Arabic calligraphy.

This competition is being organized by the shrine’s Intellectual and Cultural Affairs Department.

The head of the Intellectual and Cultural Affairs Department, Karrar al-Hillu, stated in an interview with the shrine’s news center of the Holy Alawi Shrine:

“The theme of this competition is inspired by the characteristics, virtues and biography of Amir al-Muminin (peace be upon him)—a figure who embodies a complete collection of human and Islamic values and virtues. These concepts provide a creative foundation for calligraphy artists to depict them in the form of artistic works that blend authenticity and innovation, while at the same time helping to establish the position of Arabic script as one of the most prominent manifestations of cultural and civilizational identity.”

He added:

“This competition also represents an artistic and cultural project, organized with the aim of showcasing the beauties of the art of Arabic calligraphy and drawing inspiration from the sublime values that the blessed Alawite figure represents.”

The competition’s organizing committee also invited all experienced, skilled and professional calligraphers to take part in this event and present their artistic works, thereby enriching it with pieces worthy of the lofty status of the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) and the illustrious heritage of the art of Arabic calligraphy.
