As the holy month of Muharram al-Haram approaches, the Holy Alawi Shrine, through its affiliated embroidery workshop under the Investment Board, has commenced the installation of banners, flags, and ceremonial structures for the mourning ceremonies and commemoration of the martyrdom of Imam al-Husain (peace be upon him). This is to adorn the sacred shrine in accordance with the solemn atmosphere of these days of mourning.
Mr. Haydar Abdullah, Head of the Embroidery Workshop, stated in an interview with the shrine’s News Center of the Holy Alawi Shrine:
“In preparation for the advent of the month of Muharram and in accordance with the directives of the Deputy Custodian of the Holy Alawi Shrine, the embroidery workshop has begun the preparation of special banners for this occasion. These include the main flag of the shrine, coverings for 8 canopy columns, and 48 pieces for the inner iwans.”
He added:
“These efforts also include the preparation of two internal railings, each 14 meters in length, and the sewing of 54 special bands for the Holy Alawi Shrine. All items have been designed and executed in harmony with the mourning atmosphere of the month of Muharram.”
Referring to the continuation of the preparations, he said:
“The sewing and preparation of pieces for the outer walls of the shrine is still underway. This section includes 8 large banners measuring 7 by 20 meters, which will be installed before the beginning of Muharram.”
These measures are part of the comprehensive programs organized by the Holy Alawi Shrine to welcome the holy month of Muharram al-Haram. The programs aim to prepare a suitable environment for the observance of Husaini rituals and to reflect the manifestations of grief and sorrow in the vicinity of the luminous shrine of the Imam Ali (peace be upon him).
