The Holy Alawi Shrine announced the registration of approximately 3,500 volunteer servants to support its field and service departments, providing assistance to pilgrims and mourners visiting the shrine of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) during Muharram.
Comprehensive Service Plan
Ahmad Al-Zurkani, Director of the Qanbar Volunteer Servants Center, stated that a comprehensive operational plan has been developed to strengthen the shrine’s service capacity during Muharram, particularly as pilgrim numbers increase and mourning ceremonies intensify.
He explained that the program has been in effect since the beginning of Muharram, with volunteers assigned to key departments directly involved in serving pilgrims.
Field Support
Male and female volunteers have been deployed across security, service operations, the pilgrims’ guesthouse, women’s affairs, the Rasul al-A’dam Medical Center, as well as emergency response and first-aid units.
Al-Zurkani emphasized that their participation has significantly enhanced operational, hospitality, and medical services while ensuring continuous support for visitors throughout the day.
Expanded Volunteer Workforce
He also noted that volunteer deployment is based on the actual needs of each department to maximize efficiency, adding that the number of volunteers increases substantially from the 7th to the 10th of Muharram, coinciding with the peak arrival of mourners for the Day of Ashura.
The participation of approximately 3,500 volunteer servants reflects the scale of the Holy Alawi Shrine’s comprehensive service plan for Muharram and its commitment to serving mourners, pilgrims, and Husayni processions.
