Meeting Held to Review Special Programs for Muharram and Safar at the Holy Alawi Shrine

The Operations Room for Major Pilgrimages at the Holy Alawi Shrine reviewed preparations for the programs of Muharram and the Arbaeen pilgrimage.

Under the chairmanship of the Custodian of the Holy Alawi Shrine, Sayyid Isa Al-Khirsan, the Operations Room for Major Pilgrimages convened a special meeting to discuss and assess preparations for the programs of Muharram al-Haram and Safar al-Khayr for the year 1448 AH. The meeting was attended by the committee chairman, committee members, and a number of department heads responsible for various operational tasks.

Haydar Al-Isawi, a member of the Shrine’s Board of Trustees, stated in an interview with the News Center:

“During the meeting, the launch of the organizational and service plan for the months of Muharram and Safar was officially announced, with the first phase, dedicated to Muharram, entering into implementation.”

He added:

“The plan has been developed to provide the highest level of services to Husayni mourning processions, service mawkibs, and pilgrims who travel to Najaf al-Ashraf to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam al-Hussain (peace be upon him) and offer condolences at the shrine of Amir al-Mu’minin (peace be upon him).”

Al-Isawi further explained that the program includes enhancing preparedness across the shrine’s various departments, particularly in the service, security, health, engineering, and media sectors, in order to ensure a safe and organized environment that facilitates the movement of both pilgrims and mourning processions arriving at the Holy Alawi Shrine.

It is worth noting that every year during Muharram and Safar, the Holy Alawi Shrine implements extensive service and organizational plans to support mourners, pilgrims, and Hussaini processions, providing a wide range of services to the millions of visitors who come to Najaf al-Ashraf to visit the shrine of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) before continuing their journey to Holy Karbala to participate in the Arbaeen pilgrimage.
