The Engineering and Technical Affairs Department, through its Buildings Maintenance Unit, completed the preparation and sand-covering of an area measuring approximately 2,000 square meters in the Courtyard of Imam al-Hussain (peace be upon him), located on the northwestern side of the outer perimeter of the Holy Alawi Shrine.
This initiative was carried out to accommodate the Husseini mourning processions participating in the traditional Torch Procession.
The project is part of the Shrine’s ongoing service plan for the Hussaini rituals during the first ten days of Muharram, implemented by various departments and service units.
Hussain Khidir, Head of the Buildings Maintenance Unit, stated to the News Center:
“The project was carried out through the joint efforts of staff from several departments of the Holy Alawi Shrine, particularly the Buildings Maintenance Unit of the Engineering and Technical Affairs Department, which supervised and executed the work. The Mechanical, Electrical, Blacksmithing, and Machinery Units also contributed to the project.”
It is worth noting that the Holy Alawi Shrine has launched a comprehensive field-service program to support Hussaini rituals, mourning processions, and pilgrims throughout the first ten days of Muharram. Services for Iraqi and international pilgrims visiting Najaf Al-Ashraf continue uninterrupted.
The Shrine has also begun preparations for the Arbaeen pilgrimage, during which millions of pilgrims from Iraq and around the world visit the Holy Shrine of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) before continuing their journey to Holy Karbala for the Arbaeen commemorations.
