Lost Persons
The Holy Alawi Shrine has taken a number of steps along the Arbaeen walking route to make it easier to identify and handle lost individuals — including setting up a permanent lost persons center, launching the “Lost Persons Guide” app, and putting up information banners in Persian.
The “Lost Persons Guide” app works even offline, so pilgrims can use it to identify and find their loved ones.
Services
– A dedicated space inside the official lost persons center for looking after lost children, with facilities like games, drawing, and cartoons — they’re kept safe and properly cared for until their families are found.
How to get there
– Official center address: Najaf Al-Ashraf, at the start of Imam al-Zayn al-‘Abidin (peace be upon him) Street, opposite Pillar 20, next to the Masjid al-Saqayah.
– Mobile center address: At the Murtadha rest area, near Pillar 96 on the Arbaeen walking route.
Medical Clinics
The Holy Alawi Shrine provides extensive medical services around the clock and free of charge, to ensure the health and wellbeing of pilgrims. Mobile medical units set up clearly marked banners and signs so pilgrims know where they are.
Services
– Medical services delivered through the Holy Shrine’s medical staff under the “Medical Centre of the Great Messenger” (Rasul al-Adham), in partnership with the Iranian Red Crescent and in cooperation with Baqiyatullah Hospital in Tehran, along with a team of specialist, skilled, and experienced doctors.
How to get there
– Dar al-Shifa center address: North gate of the Holy Shrine, at the Bab al-Tusi exit, on the left.
– Medical services center address: Holy Shrine, in the purified courtyard of Lady Fatimah al-Zahra (peace be upon her).
– Medical center on the Najaf–Karbala route: At Pillar 96 on the Arbaeen walking route, at the Holy Alawi Shrine’s Mawkib.
– Mobile medical centers: Around the courtyards and pathways leading to the Holy Shrine.
Transportation
The Holy Alawi Shrine has organized its transport fleet to make it easier for pilgrims to get around the Holy Shrine and along the Arbaeen walking route.
Given the millions of pilgrims during Arbaeen, and to prevent roads leading to the Holy Shrine from getting blocked, vehicle traffic around the shrine has been completely banned.
Services
– Free transport for Arbaeen pilgrims from Najaf Al-Ashraf to the southern provinces of Iraq and the Iranian borders, using the Holy Shrine’s own fleet plus 250 hired buses.
How to get there
– Main car park address: On the Najaf–Karbala route, in the Haidariyah area.
