Through its Engineering and Civil Affairs Department, the Holy Alawi Shrine has announced the details of the Great Ghadir Complex — one of the shrine’s most significant construction and investment projects, currently being carried out to strengthen the service, commercial, and tourism infrastructure of Najaf Al-Ashraf.
Engineer Mustafa Mahbubah, head of the Engineering and Civil Affairs Department, told the Shrine’s News Center:
“The Great Ghadir Complex project is being implemented as part of the Holy Alawi Shrine’s strategic vision to upgrade the urban and service landscape of Najaf Al-Ashraf’s old city, so that pilgrims and visitors from inside and outside Iraq can receive the best possible services. The project is being built in the Al-Sudair area on a 15,000-square-meter plot of land, and its design blends the authenticity of Islamic architecture with the requirements of modern development.”
Hasan Ali, the project architect, also commented:
“The complex includes a range of commercial units, hotel rooms, and accommodation units for pilgrims. There’s also a mosque planned as a center for religious activities, along with a rest stop equipped with various services — all designed to serve the people of Najaf Al-Ashraf and millions of pilgrims throughout the year.”
He added:
“The project also features a modern car park with a capacity of 925 vehicles, which will play a big role in easing parking shortages and organizing traffic in the area, especially during mega-visits.” He stressed that the design incorporates local architectural elements and the authentic identity of Najaf, creating an integrated urban project with commercial, residential, accommodation, and religious uses.
The Holy Alawi Shrine continues to roll out its service and construction projects aimed at enhancing the urban landscape of Najaf Al-Ashraf — projects that not only boost economic activity, attract investment, and develop infrastructure, but also provide comprehensive and worthy services to the citizens of Najaf Al-Ashraf and its esteemed pilgrims.
