As part of its service and operational program, the Women’s Affairs Department of the Holy Alawi Shrine announced the opening of a third venue for women’s congregational prayer during the days of Arbaeen. The move comes in response to the growing number of women pilgrims visiting the holy shrine of Amir al-Muminin (peace be upon him) in Najaf al-Ashraf.
Ramla al-Khuza’i, head of the Women’s Affairs Department of the Holy Alawi Shrine, told the shrine’s news center:
“The launch of this new venue is part of a broader set of service and organizational measures that this department has prepared to welcome the millions of pilgrims.”
She added:
“The Women’s Affairs Department places special emphasis on providing suitable spaces for congregational prayer and has furnished all the facilities and requirements necessary for this divine obligation to be carried out in an orderly and smooth manner.”
Al-Khuza’i also noted that women’s congregational prayer is held in the Haydari Courtyard, the Sayyida Ruqayya (peace be upon her) portico, and the Muhsin (peace be upon him) portico — a measure taken in response to the continuous increase in the number of women pilgrims during the Arbaeen season.
According to the report, as part of this program, a specialized and unified team of women has been formed to oversee the conduct of congregational prayer, so as to organize pilgrims’ presence, facilitate their movement, provide a suitable spiritual atmosphere for worship, and ensure orderly and proper services are delivered to women pilgrims
