The Deputy Custodian of the Holy Alawi Shrine, in an atmosphere filled with grief and mourning, raised the flag of mourning atop the golden iwan of the holy shrine, thereby announcing the commencement of the mourning ceremonies marking the anniversary of the martyrdom of the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him and his family).
Commencement of the Mourning Ceremony
The ceremony was attended by Sayyid Eisa al-Khirsan, Deputy Custodian of the Holy Alawi Shrine, his assistant, members of the board of directors, heads of departments and divisions, servants, professors, seminary students of the Hawza, official and social figures, as well as military commanders and security officials.
The ceremony opened with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by the reciter of the Holy Shrine, Muhammad Mustafa al-Husseini. This was followed by the recitation of the Ziyarat of the Noble Messenger of Islam, delivered by the reciter of the Holy Alawi Shrine, Qasim Jabbouri.
Following this, Sayyid Hussein Hakim, professor at the Hawza, addressed aspects of the character of the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) and the depth of the Islamic nation’s calamity in losing the Messenger of God.
