The Media Communications Unit, affiliated with the Media Department of the Holy Alawi Shrine, has prepared to welcome domestic and international media institutions and to facilitate their activities in covering the ceremony of the anniversary of the martyrdom of the Greatest Prophet ( peace be upon him and his family). These measures are carried out through a set of media services, facilities, and support.
Farqad Muhammad, the head of this unit, stated in an interview with the News Center:
“This unit has begun receiving media institutions and groups that have entered Najaf from inside and outside Iraq. These groups include television networks, news agencies, content producers, and photographers who are present to cover and transmit the events of the million‑plus pilgrimage in the city of Najaf al-Ashraf on this occasion.
Extensive support
He added:
“Special locations for media groups have been allocated around the holy Alawi shrine to facilitate filming and live broadcasting of the programs and ceremonies of this occasion. Also, accommodation places for media groups have been designated, and meals and internet services have been provided to them to ensure suitable conditions for the continuation of their media activity throughout the ceremonies.”
The head of the Media Communications Unit also said:
“These measures also include providing news materials, pictures, and special videos of this occasion to media institutions so that the media can provide more extensive coverage of this event.”
Organisation of media activity
Within the framework of organising the work of journalists and media activists, Muhammad emphasised:
“This unit has provided identification cards to journalists and media activists to facilitate their entry and exit through inspection points and security restrictions around and in the peripheral sections of the holy Alawi shrine, both in nearby and farther areas.”
These measures are carried out within the framework of the Holy Alawi Shrine’s support for the media and facilitating their activities to cover the ceremony commemorating the anniversary of the martyrdom of the Great Prophet ( peace be upon him and his family), and also include coverage of the preparations of the city of Najaf Ashraf to receive the large number of pilgrims on this occasion.
