A group of the most prominent poets of the Arab world has traveled to Najaf Ashraf to take part in the fifth edition of the International Festival of Arabic Poetry of the Great Prophet (peace be upon him and his family). The festival is one of the most significant cultural and literary events within the program of the fifth International Sadiqain Week, offering an opportunity for masters of eloquence and rhetoric to gather in the vicinity of the holy shrine of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) to commemorate the blessed birth of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family).
The festival’s program will be held on Tuesday, 18 Rabi al-Awwal 1448 AH, in the Courtyard of Lady Fatimah (peace be upon her), under the slogan “Toward Medina, From Its Gate.”
Participation of a Group of Arab Poets
Jafar al-Budairi, the festival’s Executive Director, stated in an interview with the News Center:
“The festival’s program will be held over two days and will see the participation of a group of poets from the Arab world, coming from Egypt, Lebanon, Libya, Oman, Morocco, and Sudan.”
He added:
“Alongside these poets, a poet from the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as a group of poets from Najaf Ashraf and other regions of Iraq, will also take part in the festival.”
Staging of Dramatic Performances
Al-Budairi also said:
“During the poetry sessions, two dramatic performances will be staged for the first time, presenting the life and historical biography of a number of prominent Muslim and Arab poets — poets who accompanied the events of the luminous life of the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) and, through the eloquence and expressive power of poetry, played a role in recording and reflecting these events and highlighting their meanings.”
The fifth International Sadiqain Week also features a diverse program including Quranic, cultural, scholarly, dialogue-based, and literary activities, as well as social programs and tributes to distinguished figures.
These programs are held in the vicinity of the holy Alawi Shrine and in various locations across Najaf Ashraf, and extend to other regions within Iraq and abroad.
