An official delegation from the Holy Alawi Shrine arrived in the city of Lahore, Pakistan, to lay the groundwork for an extensive program marking the anniversary of the birth of the Great Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) and Imam Jafar al-Sadiq (peace be upon him).
This program is being carried out as part of the fifth edition of the International Two Sadiqs Week, held both within and outside Iraq. The delegation was met with a warm welcome from officials and organizers in the city of Lahore.
Karrar al-Khafaji, head of the delegation, told the Shrine’s News Center:
“The presence of the Holy Alawi Shrine’s delegation in the city of Lahore reflects the commitment of the Shrine’s Deputy Custodian to involving believers across various countries of the world in commemorating this blessed occasion — an occasion that lays the groundwork for unity and solidarity among Muslims.”
He emphasized the importance of engaging with Muslim nations and strengthening bonds of love and wilayah.
He added:
“This delegation visited a number of religious institutions and centers in the city of Lahore and met with their officials and representatives, in order to familiarize them with the content of the central ceremony for this occasion. Blessed gifts from the sacred shrine of Amir al-Muminin (peace be upon him) were also presented to them.”
Shaikh Dr. Muhammad Hussain Akbar, head of the “al-Minhaj al-Husseini” Institute, expressed his pleasure at the presence of the Holy Alawi Shrine’s delegation in Pakistan, saying:
“Holding a gathering to mark the birth of the Great Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) and Imam al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) is a source of pride and honor, and helps strengthen ties and solidarity among believers.”
Muhannad al-Jamali, representative of the Public Relations Department and head of the International Relations Unit, also explained:
“The aim of holding this program is to promote the foundations of the religion of Islam, to instill the moral values of the Ahl al-Bayt, and to strengthen a culture of peaceful coexistence, bringing followers of different Islamic sects and denominations closer together.”
He added:
“This program has been developed in coordination with the ‘al-Minhaj al-Husseini’ Institute and the representative of the supreme religious authority in the city of Lahore, Sayyid Riyadh al-Naqvi, and will include a central gathering held in the city of Lahore, as well as a special conference for this occasion, attended by religious scholars from various Islamic sects and denominations.”
