The Qanbar Center for the Holy Alawi Shrine’s Honorary Servants, in cooperation and coordination with the al-Nathm Center of the Strategic Planning and Development Unit, held a workshop aimed at enhancing the skills and capabilities of honorary servants from volunteer religious processions and institutions.
As part of the programs of the Fifth International Two Sadiqs Week, the workshop was held to strengthen and support the plans and programs implemented for serving pilgrims throughout the year in general, and during the million-strong pilgrimages in particular.
Ahmad al-Zurkani, head of the Qanbar Center for Honorary Servants, told the News Center:
“This initiative took shape through cooperation with around 100 honorary servants, including officials and representatives of service-providing hay’at, with the aim of strengthening and developing the capabilities of volunteer groups, identifying the most significant obstacles and problems encountered and finding solutions, as well as presenting ideas and perspectives that help strengthen services and new programs.”
He added:
“The Deputy Custodian of the Holy Alawi Shrine has emphasized holding a ceremony to honor more than a thousand honorary servants as part of the International Two Sadiqs Week programs, so that this ceremony will serve as the culmination of the special program for the officials and representatives of the service-providing hay’at and institutions.”
Hasan al-Hindawi, head of the Planning Unit of the al-Nathm Center, stated:
“This workshop is being held over two days, with around 100 honorary servants from 40 service-providing institutions and hay’at in attendance. This training program takes the form of a comprehensive course lasting 18 hours.”
He explained:
“This course includes specialized areas in the management of social events, crowd organization and management, and how to handle emergency situations. Also among the course’s other areas is the development of the skills needed to provide services to pilgrims during the million-strong pilgrimages and how to interact with different groups of pilgrims in a manner that ensures the quality of services and sound performance.”
Al-Hindawi added:
“This program also includes two academic sessions attended by professors and scholars of the seminary, examining the biography and prophetic role of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) and Imam Jafar al-Sadiq (peace be upon him), with attention given to the connection between religious values and the responsibility of service and social activity.”
He noted:
“These areas are designed with the aim of training and preparing capable personnel who, alongside organizational skills, also possess service awareness and religious culture — something that helps improve the quality of service to pilgrims and institutionalize the concept of service as a responsibility and a mission.”
