The project covers an area of more than 30,000 square meters, with the possibility of further expansion. Safaa Mahdi, Director of the Resident Engineer’s Office, told the Shrine’s News Center:

“This operation includes several stages of preparatory work for the development of the area surrounding the shrine’s courtyard, including the demolition of buildings and properties located within the project area and their clearance.”

Mahdi added:

“Preparation operations are continuing around the clock and include excavation and the pouring of foundation concrete, the demolition of buildings and properties, and the removal of existing obstacles and encumbrances. These measures help accelerate the project’s implementation in line with the established planning and mechanisms, while also maintaining smooth traffic flow and safety in the surrounding area.”
