The festival was held within the framework of the Shrine’s initiatives aimed at reinforcing the values of chastity and Islamic identity within the academic environment. The event took place in a ceremonial and uplifting atmosphere, attended by the president of the Southern Technical University, representatives of the Islamic seminary, a number of academic figures, and several prominent community leaders and dignitaries from Basra.
In a statement to the Shrine’s News Center, the Executive Director of the festival, Jafar Al-Budairi, said:
“The ‘My Hijab’ Festival is, in essence, a discourse on a sacred identity and deeply rooted values inspired by the life and example of Lady Fatimah al-Zahra (peace be upon her). It represents a practical embodiment of the project of modesty and religious commitment.”
He added that, during the event, hijabs and commemorative gifts were distributed to the participating students by the Imam Ali Holy Shrine.
The “My Hijab” Festival forms part of a broader series of activities organized by the Imam Ali Holy Shrine during the Week of Modesty, including the central “My Hijab” festival held at the Courtyard of Lady Fatimah (peace be upon her), which saw the participation of two thousand female students from universities in Najaf al-Ashraf.
