Holding the “Hussaini Young Poets” Cultural Event at the Holy Shrine of Amir Al-Muminin

A cultural session was held at the Holy Alawi Shrine, attended by a group of Hussaini young poets and scholars from the Islamic Seminary.

As part of the fourth “Young Hussaini Poets Gathering,” the Alawi Holy Shrine organized a series of intensive ideological and cultural sessions and workshops, with seminary scholars in attendance, for 40 poets from seven Iraqi provinces.

The aim of the event was to elevate the discourse around Hussaini poetry and get an early start on preparations for the holy month of Muharram 1447 AH.

Strengthening Hussaini Rituals

Poet Shaikh Miqdad Hamoud al-Kaabi told the shrine’s news center:

“This gathering is an annual event in service of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him).”
He noted that the Alawi Holy Shrine has always hosted religious, cultural, and intellectual activities, since these programs play a major role in strengthening Hussaini rituals.

He added:

“Participants in this program get exposed to solid scholarly knowledge and a methodical approach that helps shape a correct ideological and religious perspective on rituals. That, in turn, improves the quality of their poetry and boosts its impact on different segments of society.”

He also stressed:

“What makes this gathering important is that it brings together a number of young poets who represent the living, evolving tradition of Hussaini poetry. Today, Hussaini poetry has become a core part of religious rituals because it carries deep intellectual and doctrinal themes that directly affect audiences.”

Educational Goals

Poet Sayed Adam al-Hasani from Baghdad said:

“My goal in attending this program was to meet with seminary scholars and benefit from their lectures, which focus on refining and elevating Hussaini rituals. The program also helps shape the intellectual and behavioral character of a Hussaini poet.”

He added:

“This program is a valuable opportunity to connect with other poets and exchange experiences, which ultimately leads to better poetic performance and deeper cultural and religious awareness among participants.”

Specialized Discussions

Poet Ali al-Khafaji also emphasized:

“The program included valuable scholarly sessions led by expert seminary scholars. These sessions came with active participation from the poets and deep discussions about the events of Karbala and Ashura. They opened up a wide space for intellectual and academic dialogue, which brought significant benefit to everyone involved.”

In conclusion, the “Young Hussayni Poets Gathering” is one of the most important cultural events organized by the Media Department with direct support from the Deputy custodian of the Holy Alawi Shrine. Its goal is to support young talent in the field of poetry and strengthen religious awareness related to Hussaini poetry. The program features 40 poets from various Iraqi provinces.
