The Water Production Unit, affiliated with the Alawi Holy Shrine, continues its activities to equip water coolers distributed throughout and around the Holy Shrine. This initiative is part of the unit’s service programs aimed at providing the best services to esteemed pilgrims.
The head of the Water Production Unit, Engineer Fadel al-Tabatabai, told the shrine’s news center: “The water preparation process involves several stages. In the first stage, raw water enters systems equipped with special filters for water purification. The second stage is the membrane stage, which purifies and cleanses the water to a high percentage.”
He added:
“This unit includes three production systems with a capacity of 165,000 liters per hour, producing more than three million liters of water daily.”
He also explained that water is transported and supplied via special tankers for distribution at checkpoints, families residing in the old city, police stations, and Hashd al-Shaabi units.
He also noted that the unit has been placed on high alert in advance for the million-strong pilgrimage of the month of Muharram, and all repair and maintenance operations of the systems have been fully completed to ensure continuity of work and meet the increased demands during the pilgrimage season.
He stated that the unit also uses a water cooling system with a capacity of 300 tons, and the devices used are from top global brands with high technical specifications, with a production capacity of 75,000 liters per hour. This helps provide better services to pilgrims and meet the needs of various departments of the Alawi Holy Shrine.
