The Flag of Wilayah Raised in the Holy Alawi Shrine

On the occasion of commemorating the great divine Eid, the Holy Alawi Shrine held the ceremony of raising the central flag of Ghadir.

The Holy Alawi Shrine held the ceremony of raising the central flag of Ghadir under the slogan “Whoever I am his master, then Ali is his master”, adjacent to the blessed tomb of Amir al-Muminin (peace be upon him). This ceremony was conducted to announce the beginning of the programs of the glorious Week of Ghadir, which is held in celebration of the greatest divine Eid.

In this ceremony, a gathering of guests was present, including representatives of the grand sources of emulation (Maraji’), scholars, seminary students and professors, trustees and representatives of holy shrines and sacred pilgrimage sites, tribal elders and prominent figures, directors of official institutions in the holy province of Najaf, as well as the custodian of the Holy Alawi Shrine, Sayed Isa al-Khirsan, his deputy, members of the board of directors, department heads, and servants of the holy shrine.

The ceremony began with the recitation of verses from the Noble Quran, after which a speech by the custodian of the Holy Alawi Shrine was delivered by a board member, Haidar al-Isawi.
Then, the Deputy Custodian of the Holy Alawi Shrine proceeded to raise the central flag atop the dome of the holy shrine of Amir al-Muminin (peace be upon him). Simultaneously with this ceremony, the blessed flags of Ghadir were raised in more than 150 cities across Iraq and the world, including at holy shrines, sacred pilgrimage sites, and main squares and locations — a ceremony that displayed a manifestation of the meanings of wilayah (religious guardianship) and loyalty to Amir al-Muminin (peace be upon him).

The activities of the “International Week of Ghadir” also begin today, Monday the 15th of Dhu al-Hijjah in the year 1447 AH. These programs, which coincided with the ceremony of raising the Eid of Ghadir flag at the Holy Alawi Shrine, include Quranic, cultural, and public programs, special celebrations for women, programs for children and youth, exhibitions of heritage and precious artifacts, social solidarity and mutual aid projects, as well as the implementation of integrated service and executive programs to welcome the pilgrims who are coming to holy Najaf for the million-strong pilgrimage for the great Eid of Ghadir.
