The Holy Alawi Shrine has commenced the ceremony of raising the flag of the great Eid of Ghadir in 19 central locations across a number of provinces in Iraq. This program was held with the presence of delegations from the Holy Shrine and the widespread participation of religious and social institutions and organizations.
Ahmed al-Zurqani, the executive official in charge of this ceremony, explained in an interview with the News Center:
“The ceremony of raising the flag has been held in the provinces of Holy Najaf, Basra, Dhi Qar, Wasit, Diwaniyah, Muthanna, Babylon, Baghdad, Diyala, Tuz Khurmatu, Amerli, Kirkuk, and several other regions.” He emphasized that the Holy Shrine has provided all necessary technical and logistical facilities for the proper holding of this ceremony on the occasion of the “Greatest Eid of Allah” (Eid Allah al-Akbar).
He further added:
“The province of Basra will witness the raising of the tallest flagpole of Ghadir, which reaches a height of 72 meters, and the area of the installed flag is 100 square meters – a magnificent scene that displays the grandeur of this blessed occasion and demonstrates the extent of public participation in the Ghadir celebrations across the various provinces of Iraq.”
This program of raising flags in the provinces coincides with the holding of dozens of religious, cultural, and social programs currently underway at the Holy Alawi Shrine to commemorate the great Eid of Ghadir.
