Holding of an Exhibition of Precious Artifacts and Manuscripts of the Alawi Treasury during Ghadir Week

The Holy Alawi Shrine inaugurated an exhibition of precious historical artifacts and manuscripts from the Alawi Treasury.

The Deputy Custodian of the Holy Alawi Shrine, Ihsan al-Ta’i, together with members of the Board of Directors, inaugurated the exhibition of precious historical artifacts and manuscripts from the Alawi Treasury as part of the programs of the Fifteenth Week of Ghadir.

In this exhibition, a valuable collection of precious artifacts, manuscripts, ancient Qur’ans, and historical documents has been placed on display in the Hall of Lady Aminah (peace be upon her), located in the courtyard of Lady Fatimah al-Zahra (peace be upon her).

The Deputy Head of this department, Ammar Masha’Allah, stated in an interview with the News Center of the Holy Shrine:

“This exhibition includes examples of handwritten Qur’ans and historical documents that represent a valuable heritage in the field of knowledge and culture.”

He added:

“The Alawi Treasury is considered among the oldest and most renowned libraries and treasuries in Iraq and the Islamic world, and in this edition, the artifacts are presented in a style different from previous exhibitions.”

Furthermore, important copies of thousand-year-old Qur’ans (meaning works whose transcription dates back more than a thousand years) have been placed on public display, some of which are being exhibited for the first time.

He also introduced the restoration and preservation activities for precious manuscripts, stating:

“In this exhibition, examples of Qur’ans and manuscripts preserved in the Alawi Treasury have also been presented.”

This exhibition, organized by the Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs of the Holy Alawi Shrine, will continue from the 16th to the 21st of Dhu al-Hijjah. It has been established with the aim of strengthening public participation in this blessed occasion, promoting the culture of allegiance (bay’ah) and devotion to wilayah (guardianship) toward the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him), and keeping the message of Ghadir alive in hearts and minds.

The exhibition of precious artifacts and manuscripts from the Alawi Treasury provides a valuable opportunity for those interested in cultural and historical heritage to become acquainted, up close, with a rare treasure trove of scholarly and historical works.
