Holding of Eid Al-Ghadir Celebrations in Line with the Region’s Special Circumstances by the Alawi Holy Shrine

The Alawi Holy Shrine has emphasized observing the special and exceptional conditions of the lovers of the Ahl al-Bayt in the programs of Eid al-Ghadir.

The Alawi Holy Shrine announced that this year’s programs and activities for commemorating Eid al-Ghadir will be held in a manner commensurate with the exceptional circumstances facing the nations of the region, particularly in light of the feelings of sympathy and mourning for the loss of loved ones, as well as the tragic events that have occurred in the Islamic Republic of Iran and with the Lebanese brothers. The Shrine stressed that the nature of the programs will be such that it aligns with these circumstances while preserving the sanctity of the occasion and its spiritual essence.

This was raised during a press conference held by Haydar Rahim, head of the Media Department of the Shrine, attended by various media outlets in Najaf Ashraf, in which he explained the preparations for International Ghadir Week.

He said:

“The commemoration of the ‘Greatest Eid of Allah’ this year will have an atmosphere that is in harmony with the surrounding circumstances, and the main focus will be on the religious, cultural, and spiritual aspects—aspects that reflect the meanings of Wilayah and the connection to the path of Amir al-Muminin (peace be upon him).”

He added:

“This year’s International Ghadir Week will carry a global message that transcends geographical borders and showcases the human and civilizational extension of the values of Ghadir. For this reason, the ceremony of hoisting the blessed Ghadir flag has seen an unprecedented expansion, as the number of flag-hoisting locations has increased from about ninety sites in previous years to nearly 150 official locations inside and outside Iraq, spanning 28 countries.”

He continued:

“For the first time, Ghadir flags will be hoisted in 20 provinces of Iran that have been subjected to aggressive attacks and bombings. This initiative is part of the announced axes of the Alawi Holy Shrine’s humanitarian campaign for the Iranian people and in response to the call of the supreme religious authority, so that these flags may carry a message of solidarity, resilience, and hope in the face of the aggressions that have occurred in those regions.”

The head of the Media Department explained during the press conference, which was held in Lady Amina Hall in the courtyard of Lady Fatimah (peace be upon her), that the programs will be presented in a way that takes into account the feelings of the believers and aligns with the atmosphere of grief and sympathy of the nations of the region, while at the same time honoring the occasion of Ghadir as a great doctrinal event that reminds of the values of unity, steadfastness, and awareness.

The activities of International Ghadir Week will begin on the 15th of Dhu al-Hijjah and will include the ceremony of hoisting the Eid al-Ghadir flag at the Holy Alawi Shrine, Quranic, cultural, and popular programs, special celebrations for women, programs for children and youth, exhibitions of heritage and exquisite artifacts, social solidarity initiatives, as well as organized service programs to welcome pilgrims who come to Najaf Ashraf for the special million-person pilgrimage of Eid al-Ghadir.
